LORD, REMEMBER ME!

LORD, REMEMBER ME!

"For God is not unjust. He will not forget how hard you have worked for him and how you have shown your love to him by caring for other believers, as you still do.” – Hebrews 6:10 NLT.

Introduction

Dear brethren,

In the midst of life's trials and tribulations, it is often easy to feel forgotten and abandoned. We may question whether anyone sees our struggles, hears our cries, or remembers our pain. It is during these moments of despair that divine remembrance which believers seek most becomes a beacon of hope.

Our message today is a plea to God to remember us. If we hope on man to remember us, man can fail, but God will not. That is why we should turn to God in every situation.

In a quaint little village, a group of politicians arrived and generously presented the female residents with bags of rice. The women in charge issued an order that anyone absent during the distribution would automatically forfeit their portion, unless they made a prior request. As fate would have it, on the day of sharing, one woman was unable to attend due to an engagement at her church. She turned to her close friend and entrusted her with the task of collecting her share. Unfortunately, her friend, plagued by an unfortunate memory lapse, completely forgot about the rice. When the woman returned from her church activity, eagerly anticipating utilizing her portion for dinner, she was met with her friend's apologetic confession: "Oh, I completely forgot!" Disheartened and filled with sorrow, the woman's face revealed her disappointment. She pondered the numerous acts of kindness she had shown her forgetful friend and questioned why she would forget to collect the rice. Was it a deliberate attempt to deprive her of enjoying the benefits of this democratic gesture, or was it simply an act of forgetfulness? Gazing fixedly at the words written in Genesis 40:23, which recount the story of Pharaoh's cup-bearer, who conveniently forgot about Joseph, never sparing him another thought, the woman couldn't help but wonder.

The Bible says "Pharaoh's chief cup-bearer, however, forgot all about Joseph, never giving him another thought".

The story of the woman is what some of us are going through in life. Some have trusted their friends and even their children, but in the end, disappointment becomes the order of the day. Some of us have helped people become who they are today. You have helped them with your money, advice, prayers, and resources, yet no one remembers you. No one thinks of you anymore. Whether you exist or not, everything you did for them is forgotten. In most cases, no one values or regards you anymore. At this point, you begin to see that people only value your services and forget about you when you need them most.

Joseph was a gifted dreamer and dream interpreter. It so happened that people needed his services but didn't value him. First, his father needed his service to see how his brothers were doing (Gen. 37:13-14), but his brothers didn't value him (Gen. 37:8). Second, in prison, the officials of Pharaoh - the cup-bearer and the baker - needed his service to interpret their dreams, but the cup-bearer forgot to tell Pharaoh about Joseph's plea to be released from prison. The Bible says Pharaoh's cup-bearer completely forgot about Joseph. This means that the cup-bearer never thought of Joseph, let alone remembered his suffering in prison or how he predicted his rescue. Everything about Joseph never crossed his mind, let alone announcing Joseph's kindness and anguish in the prison to Pharaoh. Joseph remained in suffering for a reason he knew nothing about. I tell you that what you don't know will not know you.

·        There are many of us who helped others survive, but today they have forgotten about us.

·        Some people we helped have failed to mention us to their rich and wealthy brothers, wives, or husbands.

·        The people we helped in life have failed to mention us to their relatives who are in a position to help us.

The good news is, don't put your hope in any person, and God will remember you and deliver you from the condition you are currently going through. Whatever you do, do it for the glory of God, and he will reward you.

A. God is not unjust to forget you – Hebrews 6:10 "For God is not unjust. He will not forget how hard you have worked for him and how you have shown your love to him by caring for other believers, as you still do.”

I want to tell you that our God is just in all his dealing with human beings. Whatever you do is in his record. He is seeing how hard you have been working for him – your love for him, and how you have been helping and caring for others to survive. Do you think, as mighty as God is, he will forget you?

God knew that Joseph was very innocent to suffer. He knew that Joseph was falsely accused by Potiphar’s wife. And he was aware that Pharaoh’s cup-bearer had forgotten about Joseph in prison. So, God created a scene – making Pharaoh dream a dream that could not be interpreted by Pharaoh’s magicians. It was at the moment that no one could interpret Pharaoh’s dream that Pharaoh’s cup-bearer remembered Joseph. Do you see that people look for you when they need help from you, and thereafter, they forget anything about you? Also, do you know how many years Joseph had been in that prison because of forgetfulness? Do you think that two full years are nothing? And have you seen that when human memory has failed to remember anything again, God can create a scene that will help the memory to remember? The issue of emphasis now is that, do not allow your divine talent to die in you because of your condition. Despite facing challenges, Joseph remained faithful, forsaking living an immoral life, running away from sleeping with Potiphar’s wife, and God continued to use him which resulted in his deliverance. May the Lord deliver you from every spiritual prison your enemies are keeping you. May the Lord remember you from where you have been dumped, and forgotten. Again, every condition has a purpose. If the Chief cup-bearer had told Pharaoh about Joseph before, it could be that Joseph might be released without any further entitlement or Pharaoh might not listen to him. To tell you that God was interested in any matters concerning Joseph, he caused Pharaoh to have a disturbing dream. And this helped to remind the Chief cup-bearer to remember his fault of not letting Pharaoh know about Joseph. Whatever power delaying your deliverance and miracles is arrested today in the name of Jesus Christ.

God knew that NOAH and his family members had suffered. He had seen their hard work and righteousness. And God destroyed the earth with heavy rain and flood due to the wickedness of the world, and then locked up Noah and his household in that boat. Noah and his household members were locked up but were not forgotten. But God remembered Noah and all the wild animals and livestock with him in the boat. He sent a wind to blow across the earth, and the floodwaters began to recede – (Genesis 8:1). Do you feel that you have been in the high sea of frustration, in the sea of delay in marriage, and in getting things done the way you plan? I pray by the power of the Most High God, may the surging floodwaters of failures and disappointment recede in your life. No act of your righteousness will God forget in your life. Keep on following his instructions, and may he remember you today. Amen!
